Diving the Reefs

There is great reef diving inside and outside of the lagoon. From diving right off Emon Beach to endless sharks at Troy’s Coral Head to the sheer drop-offs diving oceanside. One could dive here every day for the rest of their lives and still not see it all.

Troy’s Coral Head

If you like sharks and big schools of fish, this site is for you. A large coral head on the east side of the lagoon is famous for big bait balls and sharks feeding on them. The top of the coral head is around 15ft and it is around 120ft in the sand.

Oceanside Reefs

There are endless places to dive on the outside of the atoll, any of which are sheer drop-offs reaching deep into the abyss. One one side you will see coral from almost the surface to as far down as you can see. On the other side, endless blue water, with the potential of all sorts of things: sharks, eagle rays, turtles, napoleon wrasse, dolpins and more.

Carlson - Oceanside

Off the island of Carlson there is plenty to see on the steep walls. As you get around 100ft large seafans and white tip reef sharks frequently cruise by. Lots of fish spices can be seen.

Twin Peaks

Dual coral heads in the center of the lagoon boats lots of fish and anemones everywhere. The Dive site is a bit of a boat ride, but worth it on a calm day.

Fishbowl

Yep - you guessed it. It’s just like swimming in a fishbowl. This ocean side reef has a large area of shallow reef and then a steep drop off. Many different fish species can be seen here and the occasional eagle ray, white tip reef shark or turtle.

Victor Buoy Coral Head

North of Gugeegue is Victor Buoy and this coral head is just inside Bigej Pass. Can be subject to strong currents from tidal change. Has lots of fish and healthy coral.

Marita Shoals

Just about the furthest you can go in B-boat range, on a calm day this is a beautiful dive (it’s a rough ride when it’s windy.) Lovely coral and lots of fish.
